Easy to steal computers

Some of you are small business owners with a single computer directly connected to the Internet, using some self-proclaimed firewall (or not) to protect yourself.  And some of you have the same setup at home.

This allows computer criminals to enter and use your computer.

At this point I can hear all the cries of "But I don't care if anyone sees my data!"

Let me inform you: THEY GENERALLY DON'T GIVE A RED CENT ABOUT YOUR DATA EITHER.

They are generally interested in hijacking your computer in order to USE YOUR COMPUTER FOR CRIME.  PERIOD.  Of course, when someone else is using your computer while you are, it gets slower — and you think you need a new computer ...

And of course, when you think "I'll just buy a new computer" you don't think how expensive that actually is in terms of time to install all your programs, move your data to the new computer, setup your printers, your network (even if only on the Internet.)

PC World recently did a test on firewall software (software to protect your computer from external attacks) and has posted the firewall test results.

The one they recommend is here: Comodo Firewall

If you leave your convertible Ferrari parked downtown with the top down and the keys in the car, you are inviting crime. If you don't protect your computer with a competent firewall, anti-spyware and anti-virus, you are also inviting criminals to act.

Stop it!
